About North Charleston Housing Authority

The North Charleston Housing Authority (NCHA)does to ensure that Low-Income families in our community have decent, safe, and affordable housing. The citizens of the City of North Charleston are at the heart of what we do. We strive to bring more than hope to our community; we bring quality homes and neighborhoods for families to prosper. Through strong community partnerships, we pave the way to make our community a leader in affordable housing. We not only provide housing, we believe in strengthening our community to make it a safe and attractive place to work and raise a family.

We have a variety of housing programs for low-Income families. The Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program provides rental subsidies for over 1,900 families living in privately owned homes in the North Charleston area. We also have newly renovated Public Housing Communities and several beautiful and new mixed-financed communities.

Also through our Family Self-Sufficiency Program we assist families in becoming economically independent and self-sufficient. We provide case management combined with education, job training, and ongoing supportive services to aid families in achieving their goal to be self-sufficient.
